Bags, Shoes And Designer Collaborations- Milan 2022

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II – Milan’s oldest shopping mall.

I recently spent several days in Italy with my husband, Mr. Travel , and we visited Milan for a few days. Labeled one of the world's fashion capitals, it remains one of my favorite cities in Italy. During this trip, I was focused on shopping and the up-and-coming fashion trends from the major design houses. Let's look at Milan's 2022 fashion trends in bags, shoes, and Designer Collaborations and how they will influence us in the U.S.

Here is why. In 2018, I visited Milan during the summer months. In an attempt to stock retail for the new season, Milan has huge clothing sales in July. So, we shopped some, and I paid close attention to the styles and noticed the common trends among the designers. What surprised me was how long it took to see these trends make their way into mainstream fashion in the States and how long they have stayed around.

Trends From The Major Design Houses

The trends I observed seemed pretty consistent among the following designers: Prada, Versace, LV, Fendi, Gucci, YSL, and a few more. The focus here is primarily on accessories, but I noticed a common trend in clothing.  Most interesting are the bags, shoes & Designer Collaborations from Gucci/Adidas and Fendi/Versace ( see photos). Let's start with clothing.

Dresses & Skirts

I know it is the season end of summer fashion, but I think we will still see elements of these styles throughout the season. Dresses and skirts are LONG and, for the most part, loose-fitting. I did not see any short (mini) skirts from any designer.

Prada-long tiered skirts

Prada – long pleated skirts and dresses

LV – long skirts, cropped tops.

Pants, Shorts, and Set Collaborations

SETS are big! Pant sets, short sets, silky fabrics, OH MY! The pants are loose and full-length. Tops are either cropped or button-front with collars. Check out the fantastic Designer Collaborations in the following photos.

Purses and Shoes

If you visit Milan, you must stop and see La Rinascente.

Here you will find seven floors filled with over 1,500 designer brands of shoes, purses, cosmetics, clothing, and homeware. I spent an entire day here, mainly focusing on what is trending in shoes in bags.

In a nutshell, here is what I found. Chunky. Quilted. Gold. Large Buckles. The 80s-90s Vibe. Platforms. And not to be missed - almost every designer had their version of the "Birkenstock" sandal. NO!T

he photos speak for themselves.

It is so much fun seeing, live from Milan, all the up-and-coming bags, shoes, and Designer Collaborations and I am really eager to see how these trends will influence us over the next few years.

Until next time,

Debbie & Henry
